043 | Be Badass: Boundaries for Stress Management
When we thinking about dealing with stress in our lives, sometimes the best place to start is by establishing boundaries for stress management, meaning we find ways to protect ourselves from potential stressors.
This week’s podcast episode is week four of the Be Badass challenge, and I’m continuing the conversation around stress management and mental health as we all continue to practice the sleep and stress management habits we’ve put in place so far.
The conversation around boundaries is much larger than this episode alone, but in this episode, I’m sharing with you six categories of boundaries you can consider and provide some examples within each to help you think about what these categories and boundaries might look like for you in your life.
Categories of Boundaries
- Emotional
- Physical
- Sexual
- Work
- Material
- Time
If establishing boundaries is part of your overall stress management and mental health mission, I recommend implementing one new boundary at a time so that you can get a better sense of if and how well it works for you. This is also the most sustainable approach.
One thing to keep in mind is that not all boundaries are habits, but some habits could be based in boundaries. Generally speaking, this distinction doesn’t matter much. But if you are looking to implement some boundaries for the Be Badass challenge and they aren’t necessarily habits, that’s totally fine. Practicing habits is important, but if your version of establishing boundaries is something you do once and it’s just in place–like turning off alerts–go for it!
Again, the main idea with this challenge is to help you think critically about your habits and lifestyle so that you can make sustainable changes to help you feel like your best and most badass self.
