026 | Want What You Have – A Thanksgiving Special
In recognition of Thanksgiving, this episode is focused one wanting what you have and expressing gratitude. I’ve kept this conversation very brief so that you can get through it quickly and then take some time to reflect.
To aid this conversation around wanting what you have and gratitude, I talk a bit more about balance and being present – recognizing that gratitude comes from a place of understanding hardship, and being present gives you the opportunity to appreciate right where you’re at in the moment.
The Real History of Thanksgiving
Additionally, I want to recognize that while Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, the history behind it is atrocious. Because of that, I really want to encourage all of my listeners to take the time to learn more about the real history behind this holiday. It’s quite dark and bloody, and it’s important to understand the truth of our nation’s history (if you’re in the US) so that we can do better and create a more inclusive community.
To help you with that, here are some resources you can start with. I also recommend browsing YouTube or documentaries where you can hear from Native Americans and Indigenous People who tell the stories of their ancestry and history and how that history continues to impact them to this day.
